InSight Front Light with integral battery

Quick Overview

Entry level front light with integral Lithium Ion battery and various light output modes for use in general commuting activities where the emphasis is on being seen by other road users, with optional “high beam” mode for darker areas.

This is an entry level bike light that shares the same physical characteristics with the InSight combination Brake/Tail unit to provide a matched pair effect. Light output is sufficient for general every day use, or additional helmet mount, although it is not recommended for high speed road or off road night riding.

Basic functional overview:

Mode 0

Simple constant low power light function only. 6 Surface mount 5630 Samsung White LED’s illuminated (constant on) providing good forward rear and side visibility . Approx 75 Lumen total light output, provides good overall visibility to approaching road users.

Mode 1

High Power Mode. All LED’s on constantly – two CREE XPE2 units provide approx. 400 Lumens of diffuse lighting – providing extended visible range for darker areas where there may not be street lighting. High Power Mode is selected from rear switch, by a simple push of the actuator. A second push switches off the high power CREE’s off and reverts back to Mode 0.

Mode 2

Flash Mode. Holding back the actuator for 3 seconds and then releasing will activate the Low Power LED’s and High Power LED's flashing alternatively.

Mode 3

Whilst in Mode 2 flashing mode, a simple push of the actuator will effectively change into Mode 1, switching on all LED's for those dark stretches. A second push will go back into Mode 2 (flash mode).

Additional information:

System monitors battery condition – if it becomes critically low and unit is in Mode 1, it automatically reverts to Mode 0 to increase the useful life of the remaining charge. Then if battery threshold falls further unit will enter a low power flash mode to provide maximum endurance before recharging (note “home” mode is not a user selectable option).

If unit is plugged into a Lumicycle external battery pack the unit will also charge itself from this battery.

Can be charged from most computers via USB port, or from car power outlet charger (12V).

External indicators for internal battery charge state and charging mode. (Green for fully charged, yellow for charging).

Housings are made from extruded aluminium for the main body and machined aluminium for the end caps, rubber seals ensure unit remains watertight, switches and external charging port protected by rubber seals.
